BUTYL RUBBER
Butyl rubber is a type of synthetic rubber, which is synthesized from isobutylene and a small amount of isoprene. The finished product is not easy to leak and is generally used to make tires. Butyl rubber is a copolymer of isobutylene and isoprene.
Advantage
Butyl rubber has excellent air tightness and is an ideal raw material for the production of rubber inner tubes. Butyl rubber can be used alone in the production of butyl inner tubes, or it can be used in combination with other types of rubber to prepare rubber inner tubes with better comprehensive performance and longer service life. It is also resistant to heat, ozone, aging, and chemicals. , And has shock absorption and electrical insulation properties. It has good resistance to sunlight and ozone, and can be exposed to animal or vegetable oils or oxidizable chemicals.
Shortcoming
The main disadvantages of butyl rubber include:
First, the vulcanization speed is slow. Compared with highly unsaturated rubbers such as natural rubber, the vulcanization speed is about 3 times slower, requiring high temperature or long-term vulcanization;
Second, the mutual adhesion is poor, and the adhesion with other rubbers must be improved with the help of tackifiers and tackifier layers, and the adhesion is low;
Third, it has poor compatibility with other rubbers, and generally can only be used together with ethylene propylene rubber and polyethylene;
Fourth, it has a weak interaction with reinforcing agents. Compared with unsaturated rubber, butyl rubber has a weaker interaction with reinforcing agents. Heat treatment or the use of additives are required to increase the reinforcing effect of the rubber and increase the tensile strength. Strength, tensile stress, elasticity, wear resistance and electrical insulation properties, etc.
